These costumes were made with the intention of creating a beautifully compelling stage presence and ability to withhold themselves during dance performances. We were inspired by the intricacies and gaudiness of several live anime concert recreations in Japan. We incorporated many different types of media and techniques in building these pieces, most notably, the main focus on hand embroidery. Every decision we made was decided in the end by "will this look good on stage and catch people's attention"? Therefor, we used slightly nontraditional ways of enhancing our costumes for example, using glitter sheets to create a very distinct shape and glow to certain pieces of our costumes. Though these were both made to be seen from stage, we also made sure that the insides of our costumes, including the layers not seen from the outside, and seams were neat and presentable to their highest degree. All embroidery, tailoring, and trim work were planned and organized in specific order prior so no inner workings were visible from the outside. Please see below for WIP photos and more information!
